Flashback to Los Angeles 2005. Maria Brink and Chris Howorth were just two musicians trying to form a band. Twelve years later they are one of the most popular metalcore bands in the United States. In This Moment, who consist of vocalist Maria Brink, lead guitarist Chris Howorth, bassist Travis Johnson, rhythm guitarist Randy Weitzel, and new drummer Kent Diimmel, have been making music since the release of their first album in 2007 entitled Beautiful Tragedy. Diimmel replaced his predecessor Tom Hane in 2016 after Hane cited creative differences with his fellow bandmates. Since its birth, In This Moment has been touring non stop with the release of a new album about every two years. Their latest album Ritual is to be released on July 21st while they are out on tour.
We got our first tease of Ritual back in May when the group released their single “Oh Lord,” which has a sound that we didn’t really expect from In This Moment. Maria’s vocals have a very bluesy sound to them, which becomes louder and more clear toward the middle of the track. However, the wardrobe of the video is still consistent with the metal heads we all know and love.
Giving us another tease of the new album on June 16th, we received a lyric video for the second single off the album entitled “Roots.” The video already has over 330,000 views on Youtube and the number is quickly rising. An added bonus, ITM is showing homage to the brilliant Phil Collins by covering “In the Air Tonight,” which we will able to hear on the new album.

Along with recording of Ritual, preparing for tour, and keeping up with their day to day lives, the members of In This Moment have been performing in various festivals such as The Carolina Rebellion back in May, and Shiprocked Cruise which will take place January 21st – 28th 2018.
Before we set sail in January, In This Moment will be trekking over the United States for the Half God, Half Devil tour which will be supported by Motionless in White, and Vimic. This however is not Motionless in White’s first time touring with In This Moment. Motionless in White, along with Kyng, and All Hail the Yeti, toured with In This moment on The Hellpop tour which took place in 2013.
With the sneak peeks and tour announcements we have received about In This Moments upcoming tour, and the release of Ritual, it’s safe to say this is going to be an exciting year for the metalcore band who’s sound is constantly evolving, and for the fans who have continuously supported them on their journey as musicians.
