The Band of Heathens are about to embark on the release of their fifth full-length album: Duende. The record will rock music stores and outlets nationwide on January 13th, 2017.
Taken from Spanish flamenco music, duende is defined as the following on the band’s website:

duende – [duen-de] (noun)

1. a quality of inspiration and passion

2.  A heightened sense of emotion, expression and authenticity

3. a sprirt

According to the band’s statement about the album, we are in for a whole new level of The Band of Heathens. The five-piece feels as if Duende is their best work yet and, from the looks of it, they  might be right. Duende is the cultivation of what it means to be human, what it means to feel disconnected in a world so desperate to be connected, and a sprinkle of rock-n-roll. Simply put, the album is “the sound of a band digging deep into the grit of the road, hugging the curves tight, hot rod dust and gravel kicking at the edges.” If that doesn’t get you hyped for a new era, then maybe their single “All I’m Asking” will get you in the right mindset. You can stream the album now on their website if you can’t wait until the Friday!
With a US tour on the way, followed closely by a European run in May, The Band of Heathens show no signs of slowing down in 2017. It’s clear to see that this is, without a doubt, their year.
On January 20th, 2017, they will bring their Americana, folk rockin’, blue-eyed soul, country-blues-selves live to the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh, NC. Scheduled to roll in with them is The National Reserve with their groove movin’, get-ya-going vibe. This show is sure to get you out of your snow-covered, cold-snappin blues!
