What’s New This Week

For the week of August 5, 2016

Oh hey, August. It’s officially the end of Summer and Fall is pretty much standing behind the bushes like Michael Meyers waiting for his opportunity to turn every white girl for miles into pumpkin aficionados. Don’t worry– that’s not at all judgement. That’s the first step of acceptance, considering the fact that I’m one of those basic girls lining up for my PSL every Saturday until November. With that being said, though, we still have some drops of summer left to squeeze out before it’s all said and done.

On Sunday, August 7, you can enjoy some karaoke with Snug Harbor‘s karaoke night, Bone Snugs-N-Harmony, check out The Charlotte Blues Society monthly meeting at Double Door Inn featuring The Full Grown Band Reunion and The Roadshow Band, or swing by The Milestone for Death Card accompanied by Violent Life Violent Death, End the Empire and Persistent Shadow.

Leading us into the mid-week on Monday, August 8, will be your choice of some emo rock at The Milestone courtesy of Kayak Jones, No Dice, Rothschild, Dog Years and Squid Beach, Snug Harbor’s hip hop night, Knocturnal, Double Door Inn’s variety night, The Monday Night Allstars, or The Evening Muse’s open mic night, Find Your Muse, featuring this week rock artist, Dylan Gilbert. On Tuesday, August 9, check out Flocke with Sea Ghost, Melt and Death For Hours at Snug Harbor, Double Door Inn‘s Bill Hanna Jazz Jam, or Jelly Roll with Whitney Peyton at Visulite Theatre.

Motion City Soundtrack bring their So Long, Farewell Tour to The Fillmore Wednesday night, August 10, while Snug Harbor‘s August residency continues another week featuring Kansas Bible Company, The Everymen and The Business People, Double Door Inn hosts eclectic genre blend Gringo Star, and singer/songwriter Marshall Crenshaw makes a stop at The Evening Muse. Wrapping up the week this week on Thursday, August 11, is Snug Harbor‘s weekly resident, SHIPROCKED!, a blues/rock lineup including Brandy Clark and Walker County at Neighborhood Theatre, some new wave electronic at The Milestone featuring Milemarker, Patois Counselors and Late Bloomer, and musical project of Cory Wells, Subliminal Confession, along with singer/songwriter Ilona at The Evening Muse.
