The Fillmore (NC) hosts all types of bands, from black metal to hip hop, and anything you could possibly imagine between.  When Trampled by Turtles and The Devil Makes Three announced their current tour together, it was great to see that bluegrass music had a place at The Fillmore as well.

Fans of all ages packed the Fillmore to see The Devil Makes Three (Santa Cruz, California) play their own brand of bluegrass, which has a very “old timey” traditional sound and feel.  It’s impossible to listen to this three-piece and not tap your foot.  Stop by their website, check out their music, then catch them on tour and have a great time.

Trampled by Turtles (Duluth, Minnesota) is a band that I stumbled upon by accident years back.  I saw their name on youtube and clicked the link out of curiosity; I’ve been a fan since that day.  I’ve somehow always managed to be out of town when they toured in my area, so I was extremely pleased to see the Charlotte date for this tour was set for a night that I had no intentions of traveling.  I had high expectations for their live performance, and I’m happy to say they lived up to the expectations that I had set.  It was great to finally get to sing along with these guys and share it with an entire concert hall full of people.  They play bluegrass music that has some more “modern” influences, which sets them apart a bit from other similar acts, and I think it’s one of the things I love most about their sound.

Be sure to catch both bands on tour because from the looks of it, they’ll be playing music all over the place.
