Brutal Measures

BrutalMeasures (13)

Members: Lydia Lunch – Vocals; Weasel Walter – Drums

Brutal Measures combines the dynamic spoken word histrionics of Lydia Lunch – one of the genres most controversial performers – with the improvisational virtuosity of Weasel Walter to create an intimate evening of musical verite. Weasel Walter (first name, last name) drums deeply and madly – an intoxicating feast for your eyes and ears.

BrutalMeasures (3)

Lydia Lunch is passionate, confrontational, and bold – and this is evident the moment she sets foot on stage. With this being my first time seeing Lunch live, I casually expected greatness, but ended up being absolutely floored by what was to come.

The fierceness that Lydia Lunch delivers in a live setting is something that one can only experience – no video, photograph, or review will do proper justice; her words pierce your soul, reach into your body, and tear out your heart, yet at the same time inspire and breathe life into you that hadn’t previously existed.

BrutalMeasures (17)

Lunch is a warrior of words and an absolute legend – a nearly indescribable experience to be had if lucky enough.

Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling

Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling (23)

Members: Sophia Cacciola – vocals; Michael Epstein – guitar, vocals; Jess Townsend – drums.

Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling (19)

Third on the lineup was Boston’s Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling and Sophia Cacciola – right out of the gate – showed why she was voted Best Female Vocalist in 2012 in the Boston Phoenix.

Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling (9)

With Cacciola’s frenetic energy and killer vocals, Jess Townsend keeping the beat solid, and the quietly-lurking-in-the-shadows-of-the-stage-but-dangerously-skilled-axe-wielding Michael J. Epstein, DNFMOMD perfectly prepped the audience for headliners Lydia Lunch and Weasel Walter.

Chemiplastica Members: Jenna – vocals ; Bethuny – guitar; Meghan – bass. Western Massachusetts punk/hardcore band Chemiplastica, second on the night’s bill, hit hard, with singer Jenna asking the crowd to move in closer, blasting us with a brief but stellar set.
