Gallery and CD Review: Heart of a Ghost

By: Liza Cox

Heart of a Ghost gallery from The Rabbit Hole and Visulite Theatre this past week.

Andy Frisk recently did a review of their album. Here is an excerpt, you can see the full piece here.

Charlotte band, Heart of a Ghost, has a new full-length album: There Are Voices. It is a litany of soft rock/folksy songs that rarely rise to the level of full-on rock, but are never quite stripped-down enough to really be considered folk. Mastermind John Fenn Steila eschews any one specific rock-quartet convention by coaxing out the kind of atmospheres and natural world images that traditional folk does, but washes the entire affair in a type of eclectic electric aural solution that smooths the folksy angles of the songs into postmodernist sonic waves.
