Word on the street is that some of Charlotte’s most talented musicians and bands are putting together a can’t-miss event that will not only be affordable but benefit a great foundation as well. On Sunday April 13th, Michael Tracy Entertainment is putting on the second annual Music Matinee, which will be held at Amos’ Southend from 3 pm – 9 pm and will support the Wounded Warrior Project by donating $2 of every ticket sold to the foundation. This event will have a diverse line-up of music, food, and will be a family-friendly environment; supporting a great cause, spending time with your family, and being able to rock out to some good music, who could ask for more?
It’s these types of events that really show off the amount of talent and passion Charlotte musicians have for their craft. Whether you’re into rock, country, blues or acoustic music, there will be something there for you. Headlining the show will be the Michael Tracy Band, which features the man responsible for this whole event on lead vocals and guitar. These guys put on a great show that will fill your ears with some of the best rock ‘n’ roll you’ve ever heard. Sprinkle in a little country and blues influence and you’ve got what I’m sure will be an amazing set of music headed your way. Tracy is proving to be a great figure in the Charlotte community by not only raising money for veterans of the U.S military but supporting so many other local artists and offering his fans a discounted ticket price if you buy from his website. Seeing these guys would be worth the price of admission alone but you’re going to get eleven other bands to enjoy as well.
Some of the other entertainment for the night will be hard rockers Fiftywatt Freight Train, who were nominated for Charlotte’s best rock band in 2013, as well as one of Charlotte’s most recognized acts and winners of Charlotte’s best hard rock band in 2007, the Joe Davis Band. If you’re not a fan of the harder rock, the Neil Jackson band is an alternative style rock band blending many styles together in their set that will also be performing, as well as an acoustic set by members of Simplified, Clee & Sheridan. Still looking for something different? Guitar-driven funk, rock and blues musician Halden Vang is an extremely talented guitarist and singer/songwriter who will also be serenading every ear in the house that night.
Southern rock/country artist the Southern Experience Band will fit right in with this line-up as they give everyone a taste of what music from the south is supposed to sound like. Acoustic country duo Josh Daniel & Mark Schimick will be in the house to add their old fashioned country sound to the mix, as well as pop/soul acoustic artist Randy Paul & the Revelry, funk/blues band Andrew Scotchie & the River Rats, outlaw country artist Andy Buckner & Southern Soul Campaign, Americana act Funky Geezer Show, and the Roadshow Band.
On top of all the great bands and artist performing, there are some awesome local companies sponsoring the event and lending their hand into helping the Wounded Warriors Project including Shutter 16 Magazine, Kudzoo Magazine & Radio Hour, Advanced Food Equipment, West Art Video, HF Photography and Graphics, Holloway’s Music Center, Cullis Entertainment, Rock University, Boneyard Tavern, Doc Imports, and Carolina Entertainment Network. Tracy has said that he has a goal to raise $5,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project and with so much great music and tons of fun to be had, this is a very attainable goal. The event starts at 3 pm and lasts throughout the whole day. There will be food onsite so you won’t have to leave until the last note has rung out.
Come out and show your support for the local music scene here in Charlotte and give back to the veterans of the military service who have given so much to us. You can purchase tickets for just $12 from the Michael Tracy Band’s website, coming out as about $1 per band that will be playing. Don’t forget, $2 will go to the Wounded Warriors Project. With so much great music, food and a family friendly environment, this is an event you don’t want to miss out on. Save the date Sunday, April 13th, 3 pm – 9 pm and get ready to have some fun.
